Veolia’s Otterbourne office houses over 60 staff, so there were plenty of willing volunteers to bake, decorate and eat lots of cakes. Tina Starbuck, Corporate Fundraiser from Naomi House visited the offices to thank everyone and collect the cheque.
Ben Slater, Regional Managing Director for Veolia, said: “We’re proud to support Naomi House in the valuable service they provide for Hampshire families. I’d also like to congratulate our staff for the tremendous response in fundraising this money for the hospice.” Every day Naomi House provides support to children and young people with life limiting conditions from across central southern England. The charity offers one-to-one palliative care that includes respite stays, terminal and bereavement care. This support is available 24 hours a day, 365 days of the year. Since 1997 they have been able to provide a home from home environment to over 600 families, thanks to the support of thousands of individuals, hundreds of volunteers and many local companies.
Linda Gobart, receptionist at Otterbourne, said: “The response was fantastic. We had so many cakes I thought we would be eating them for weeks, but the next day they had all gone – what does that say about our waistlines!” Veolia Environmental Services has supported Naomi House before, including helping them celebrate their 10th birthday in 2007. Staff are keen to support this local charity as the service they provide can have a direct impact on any of the 300 staff employed by Veolia in Hampshire
