Talking rubbish is the Lord Mayor's cup of tea

Refuse collectors swapped bin bags for glad-rags when they had tea with the Lord Mayor on 21 December.

eolia Environmental Services operatives who look after the Lord Mayor's streets in the Southsea area were invited to her parlour as a thank-you for all their hard work.

Lord Mayor Cllr Terry Hall said: “Our waste collectors do such a fantastic job I wanted to personally thank them.

“Making our streets safe and clean is something we take for granted, but we'd soon notice if it wasn't done."

Richard Johnson, Projects Director for Veolia Environmental Services in Hampshire, continued: "It's great for our crews to get this recognition, as they have a tough job which can go unnoticed, but waste and recycling collections are two of those essential services that we all rely on."
