"Keep It Clean!" Urge Veolia Environmental Services

To celebrate National Recycle Week (20-27 June) Veolia Environmental Services are encouraging Hampshire residents to get involved in The Big Tidy Up campaign, to improve their local community.

If you are tired of the tide of litter that is causing your area to look untidy and unattractive, join the Big Tidy Up campaign, run by Keep Britain Tidy, to help rid your streets of litter for good.

To prove how much they loathe litter, staff from across Veolia Environmental Services in Hampshire spent several days clearing tonnes of flotsam, jetsam and junk from the shores of Portsmouth.

Projects Director for Veolia in Hampshire, Richard Johnson said: “Staff at Veolia take great pride in working to help recycle and recover resources from Hampshire’s household waste, but they are fed up with seeing how much litter can build up.  This clean up showed not just how much we care about the future of our local environment, but also how easy – and fun – it is to take part in this type of community event.”

Over 30 million tonnes of litter is collected from UK streets each year, but community action can make a huge difference, not just in the look of your city, town or village, but in the amount of pride people have in their neighbourhood.  To get free resources to make your community litter pick even more successful, register at www.thebigtidyup.org.
